Phishing Facts #3: Question the Impersonal Email.
When a legitimate company, one in which you are (or should be) a valued customer, contacts you regarding a business matter, be suspicious of the vague salutation. Companies in which you do business should at the very least keep records of your name. Any communication that begins with “Dear Bank of America Customer”, ought to signal caution. Remember…when in doubt to the legitimacy of a request, follow up by using one of two safety protocols: log onto the website directly by typing the main address in your browser or call the company on the phone.
